Curtis’ “Bud’s” life began on March 14, 1937, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of William “Marion” and Freda (Scholfield) George. He attended El Dorado schools and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Gladys G. Ruckman on June 16, 1958, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Bud worked for the City of El Dorado and then worked in the oil fields as a roustabout and pumper. Bud was a member of the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge for 48 years, loved bowling and fishing. He was the owner/operator of Bud’s Bait and Tackle at Wilson Lake – this was his real joy in life.
His loving family includes his wife of 58 years, Gladys George of the home; children and their spouses, Delaina and John Bainbridge of Payson, Arizona, Steven and Ann George of Murray, Kentucky, Paul and Karen George of Charleston, Indiana and Tony and Brenda George of Haven, Kansas; brothers, Marion George of Wichita and Mike (Sue) George of McPherson, Kansas; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 2 half sisters, Mary Jane Hand of Hesston and Paula Thomas of Wichita.
Bud passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado, having reached the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doretha Rogers and a grandson, Zachary George.
