Jim’s life began on August 12, 1928, the son of Fred Earl and Fern Elizabeth (Spohr) Brewer in Beaumont, Kansas. Jim graduated from Latham High School Class of 1945, and married Wilda “Loriene” Davis on June 26, 1947, in El Dorado. He was in oil production with Rex & Morris Oil, owned Clay Center Service, Latham Lumber & Propane, Jim’s Propane and Jim Brewer Construction in heavy equipment. Jim was a member of the Latham Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 32nd Consistory and the Lions Club. He also opened and closed cemetery plots for many years at Latham and area cemeteries.

His loving family includes his wife, Loriene of the home, son, Jim Brewer Jr. and daughter Linda Doornbos both of Leon; brother and his wife, Jack and Leah Brewer of Leon; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Brewer; and a son-in-law, Gary Doornbos. Jim passed away, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, having reached the age of 89 years old.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home with Masonic Rites. Inurnment will take place in Latham Cemetery at a later date.
