Manuel’s life began on November 16, 1928 in Augusta, KS; the son of Manuel and Carmen (Contreras) Cabrales. He graduated high school in Augusta. Manuel faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Ruth Cervantes on July 29, 1950 in El Dorado. He retired from the Texaco Refinery as a lab technician. Manuel enjoyed working with wood and considered himself a handyman. He was always tinkering. He loved cars and enjoyed being a shade tree mechanic. Manuel was an avid Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved and cared for his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Manuel passed away on June 23, 2017 at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado surrounded by his loving family. His loving family includes his wife Ruth of El Dorado; son Rick (Suella) Cabrales of El Dorado; grandchildren Heath, Amanda, Tony, Erika, and Felicia; great-grandchildren Aviana, Isaac, Abraham, Philip, Mercedes, Michael, Manny and Evyn. He is preceded in death by his daughter Linda Pena; sisters Lucy Carillo, Helen Gallardo, Rosemary Cabrales; brother Carlos Cabrales and his parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado at 10am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am. Manuel will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado. Memorial contributions in Manuel’s name may be directed to the Special Olympics.
