Tribute

Barbara Ann Platt (Latimer) of Rose Hill, Kansas, passed away on January 23rd, 2023.

Barbara was born March 29th, 1936 to Treat Lloyd and Anna Loretta (Titmus) Latimer in Iola, Kansas. She grew up in the Iola area where she attended school. It was in Iola that she met the love of her life, Harvey Marion Platt. They were united in marriage on August 21st, 1953. They spent much of their married life residing in El Dorado, Kansas.

Barbara was a homemaker during the first several years of their marriage, giving birth to three daughters, Debra Diver Kaiser (Curt) of Hutchinson, Kansas, Tresa Borger (Casey) of Arkansas City, Kansas and Donna Rodems (Russell, deceased) of Sedalia, Missouri. As the girls got older she began to work outside of the home and she spent several years assembling aluminum doors and windows. She worked in the domestic department of various health facilities and also worked as a seamstress in Goessel, Kansas for many years. She worked in Emporia, Kansas for a short time before returning to El Dorado where she lived until 2002.

It was then that a stroke required the need for attended living. Barbara lived in various care and assisted living facilities until her death. Barbara was a joy to all who knew her. She was caring and willing to help others, even at her own sacrifice. She loved bowling, gardening and watching Kansas City Chiefs football.

Barbara is survived by her daughters; grandchildren, Daniel Diver (Glenda), Michael Diver (Megan), Barrett Diver (Tessie), Hannah Diver Swinson (Travis), Natalie Borger Smoot (Zach), Valerie Borger Niblack (Calvin), Matthew Platt (Marie), Marcus Platt, Caleb Evans (Laura), Jacob Evans (Savannah), and Autumn Kaiser Snow (Dustin); great grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter, Noah, Alec, Grace, Adam, Logan, Zoe, Adin, Corbin, Marlee, Dalton, Byron, Ian, Quinton, Clara, Gabriel, Qaylin, Abigail, Enoch, Xavier, Phog, Caseyanne, Michael, Avery, Elleigh and Sawyer. Barbara is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Latimer and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her parents; two brothers Lloyd and Paul; and four sisters Mary, Wanda, Madeline and Patricia.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 18th at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas.
