Bernadine Schwindt

Bernadine D. “Bernie” (Kammer) Schwindt was born to Michael and Pauline Kammer on June 12, 1937 the youngest of eight children in Topeka, KS and passed from this life on August 5, 2022.  She married Bill Schwindt, the love of her life, on June 18, 1955 and they moved to El Dorado in 1957.  They had seven children Bill Schwindt of St. Louis, MO, Tim (Gail) Schwindt of McPherson, KS, John (Jody) Schwindt of Colwich, KS and Paula (John) Hogoboom and Debbie (Rick) Smith both of El Dorado.  Bernie was also blessed with thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.  Her sister, Sister Sophia Kammer of Wichita, KS survives her.  She was a devoted and loving Mom and Grandma showering her family with affection, unconditional acceptance, and an example of  faith.

As an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church she served on the parish council, taught CCD, and participated in Study Club, Altar Society, and Legion of Mary.  Bernie worked with her husband, Bill, in the monument business for over 35 years.

Bernie was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son, Bruce, daughter Bernadette, her parents, a brother and five sisters.

Friends may gather with the family from 5-7 pm on Monday, August 8th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 9th , 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
