Betty’s life began June 24, 1928 in Hobart, OK. She is the daughter of Herbert and Byrl (Gwin) Eckstrom. Betty is a graduate of Fairfax, Oklahoma High School. She was united in marriage to Dervin “Wayne” Mullennax on January 2, 1948 in Pawnee, OK. Betty was employed by Beechcraft Aircraft in Wichita. She loved gardening, growing her flowers and tending to her yard. She always made time to visit with friends and even strangers as was her kind hearted nature. Her loving family includes her children Kathy (Mac) McDonald of Tulsa, OK and Michael (Shelley) Mullennax of El Dorado; grandchildren Dawn Crain, Christopher Mullennax, Sean McKibban, Amie McKibban, April McKibban, and Jeremy McKibban; great grandchildren Sydney Crain, Joshua Crain, Kyler McKibban and Jackson McKibban. Betty passed away on Friday February 9, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne and infant son Dervin Mullennax, Jr. Betty’s family will gather with friends at 11a.m. on Thursday at the Carlson Colonial Chapel for her funeral service led by her nephew Rev. Bill Springer. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is serving the family.
