Blythe Roberts

November 30, 1953 ~ August 4, 2022 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Blythe Glennelle Roberts was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She was born on November 30, 1953 in El Dorado, KS; the daughter of Glenn E. and Jayne Blythe (Clark) Bailey. She was adopted at the age of 7 by William E. Wildin. Blythe grew up in New York City where she graduated from the High School of Music and Art in 1971. She went on to attend the University of Denver where she studied psychology and earned her teaching certificate. From there she moved to Southern California where she obtained her master’s degree in psychology with a counselor option from the California State College in San Bernardino, 1983. She was united in marriage on September 2, 1984 in Claremont, CA to Mark J. Roberts. Blythe retired from the State of Kansas after serving 31 years as a parole officer. She also spent many years teaching English as a second language to students through WATC and loved every minute of it. Besides the great passion, love, and hard work she gave to her career, her greatest joy in life was her family, which includes her husband, Mark, daughters, Kerrie Bekaert and Aimee Roberts, and grandchildren, Bexli, Luke and Emberlee Bekaert. She loved music, especially Broadway musicals, and often burst into song when she wanted to express how her day felt. She believed in travel, and in her lifetime she had the pleasure of exploring wonderful places like Alaska, Yellowstone, Hawaii, Bermuda, and Japan with her family. She raised her girls to know and appreciate the beauty and wonder that the United States has to offer. She was blessed to have the opportunity to complete her travel bucket list when she visited her stepmother on the Island of Bonaire with her brother and sisters just a few months before she passed. Her final breaths were taken peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home in Towanda, KS on August 4, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer and liver disease at the age of 68. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at The Benton Church on Monday, October 17, at 10 a.m., to be followed by a graveside gathering at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
