Tribute

Deacon Wayne Davis, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the age 48. Deacon was born on March 30, 1973 in Fort Riley, Kansas to Colvin and Virginia (Marshbanks) Hancock Jr. He spent 11 years working for the city of El Dorado Sanitation Department. He started out on the garbage trucks, then driving the garbage trucks, and then he worked in roll-off and recycling, along with various other duties for the city. He then spent some time working for Sunflower Septic, driving the septic truck. But he spent the past two years of his life as a long-haul truck driver, hauling anything and everything across the country for people. He married the love of his life, Janna Stewart, on October 31, 2002. Together they built a beautiful life raising their children, Willow Bay Stewart and Aiden Bain Davis. Deacon was a very passionate man. He was so full of life that he was passionate about everything he did. Deacon’s life saw him through many transformations, the best of which was his transformation from being on a road of self-destruction to finding God. When he found God, he became very passionate about his love and his faith. Deacon also had a great love for his country. He was a very patriotic man. Deacon especially found great joy in caring for the homeless and ensuring people were getting the nourishment of good food in their stomachs. Deacon touched many lives through his passion of feeding the homeless and caring for people who were less fortunate than himself. He also had a love for watching his son race his BMX bikes out at the BMX track. Deacon also spent a lot of time acting as the Range Security Officer for the El Dorado Lake Shooting Range. He was a very loving son, brother, father, husband, uncle, and friend.

Deacon is survived by his wife, Janna Davis; children, Willow Bay Stewart and Aiden Bain Davis; mother, Virginia Marshbanks; mother-in-law, Marsha Stewart; siblings, Rosie (Justin) Canady and Roger Allen Davis; brother-in-law Tylor (Sarah) Struckman); nieces and nephews, Reilly Johnson, Emily Struckman, and Tyson Struckman; and cousins, aunts, and uncles in North Carolina, Eureka, Hamilton, the Emporia area, Valley Center, and the Kansas City area.
