Dayton’s life began on December 15, 1936 in Ward, WV. He is the son Winifred A. and Edith V. (Slate) Waugh. He was united in marriage to Carol Bird on August 31, 1958 in Wichita. Dayton graduated high school in West Virginia and joined the United States Air Force on June 8, 1956 serving for 23 years, retiring in 1979 as a Master Sargent. After service to his country, Dayton went to work for Beech/Raytheon and Century Plastics. His is survived by his daughters Susan Hunter and Edith Waugh, both of El Dorado, and a grandson Tom Rhodes of Mississippi. Dayton passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 10, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Vernon Waugh. Private family burial with military honors has been arranged at White Chapel Cemetery, Wichita. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Dayton’s name may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
