Donald’s life began on February 29, 1988, in Riverside, California, the son of Donald Yates, Jr. and Teresa Yaezenko. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 2006, and attended the University of Kansas for two years. He returned to El Dorado, Kansas to be with family, where he worked at Casey’s General Store for 5+ years. Donald “Disco” was a huge KU basketball fan, was a self-described “discoverer” of all good music, played the drums, and most important was devoted to caring for his family and being a light to all his family and friends. He would truly do anything for anyone.

His loving family includes his father, Donald Yates Jr. of El Dorado; his mother, Teresa Yaezenko of El Dorado; a big sister, Christine Patterson and her husband, Eric Patterson of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, Dakota Yates of Salina; grandfather, Donald Yates, Sr. of Seremban, Malaysia; many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Margaret Louise (Fisher) Yaezenko and paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Benson. “Disco Don” passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the age of 28 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Kirby-Morris reception center, 224 W. Ash in El Dorado on Saturday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. Please come casual (KU colors accepted!) to honor and celebrate his life, and to share a memory or two with his friends and family.
