Dorathea Ruth Carl

Dorathea’s life began on June 13, 1921 in Beloit, KS. She is the daughter of Martin and Ruth (Johnson) Hansen. Dorathea attended rural grade school at Gilbert School District #72 and is a graduate of Beloit High School Class of 1940 and worked for USD 490 El Dorado schools for more than 30 years. She was united in marriage to John Carl on March 14, 1953 in El Dorado. Dorathea was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #6242 in Beloit. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her nieces and nephews Ruth Hansen of Independence, MO, Carson Hansen, Jr. of CA, Alice (Evert) LaCoe of Beloit, Mike (Suzanne) Prickett of Hutchison, Beth (Mike) Reisman of AZ, Charles (Charlene) Prickett of Wichita, Janet Lyngstand of Liberty, MO, Bill (Kris) Hansen of Beloit, Jane (Allen) Sewell of CA, Greg Hansen of FL, Martin Hansen of Wichita, Peggy (Dave) Nagy of Topeka and Lisa Rady of CO. Dorathea passed away on November 5, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, seven siblings, nephews Gerald Hansen and Kim Hansen and niece Diane Mixon. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit. Memorial contributions in Dorathea’s name may be directed to the USD 490 Partners in Education.
