Eleanor Jeanette Sifford

Eleanor Sifford, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, passed peacefully surrounded by family Monday, December 31, 2018, in Overland Park, Kansas.  Eleanor celebrated her 89th birthday on December 11 and her 69th wedding anniversary with Ernie Sifford in June 2018. She was a member of the Augusta Church of Christ.

She graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Butler County Community College. She lived in El Dorado, Kansas all of her life prior to moving to SilverCrest Retirement Community in Overland Park in April of 2015. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the Treasurer’s Office at the Butler County Courthouse. She was President of Desk and Derrick Club in 1985.  She loved spending time with family, friends, sewing, and cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Sifford (Overland Park); her children Kathy (Jim) Baumann (Overland Park),  Rick (Julie) Sifford (McKinney, TX), and Ernie (Keri) Sifford (Overland Park); her grandchildren Andy (fiancé Gabbie Greenlee) Baumann, Blake Baumann, Kaitlyn Sifford, Matthew Sifford, Ryley Sifford, and Reece Sifford; her sister, Wilma Howe-Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Marian Belle Ittner and Bill Ittner; her granddaughter, Ashley Baumann; and brother and sister-in-laws Herb (Ruth) Sifford, Ivan (Jean) Sifford, George (June) Sifford, Don Howe, and Jim Edwards.

Graveside services will be held Friday January 4, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Walnut Valley Memorial Park 725 Boyer Road, El Dorado, KS 67042
