Irene Parsons Komer, age 98, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sonshine Manor in Republic, MO.

Irene was born to Julius and Eva (Herrin) Lindberg in Savonburg, Kansas on December 10, 1919. Irene moved to ElDorado in 1965 and began working at Foodtown Grocery Store. She remained in ElDorado working at several retail stores during the next 45 years, lastly at Wal-Mart as a door greeter. In 2010, she moved to Republic, Missouri to be closer to her daughter.

Irene was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in ElDorado and a former member of the Methodist Church in Savonburg. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, nana, and great-grandmother. Irene valued the closeness of her family and friends. She enjoyed helping others, crocheting, quilting and traveling.

She is survived by daughters Wanda Bennett and Sheryl (Gary) Blankenship; grandchildren LaWanda Bennett, Ray (Angie) Bennett, Nikki Bennett, Ryan (Rachel) Blankenship, and Kara (Lynn) Nutt; great-grandchildren Diontae’ Bennett, Ashley Ice, Isabella and Alexandria Bennett, and Roman Blankenship; and one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; step-family, Anna Hoffman, Dick Lutz, Mary (Chuck) Demo, Donna Osborn, Gene Komer and Marge Wolfer, as well as extended Komer family.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Wendell Parsons; husband of 8 years, John Komer;  brothers Maurice and Ed Lindberg; grandchildren Gerald and Jerry Bennett; step-family Betty Lutz, Skip Osborn,  Ray Hoffman, John (Eva) Komer.

A visitation will be held beginning at 9a.m. on Thursday, March 1 followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. both at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado, Kansas with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or Alzheimer Association.
