Tribute

On September 6, 2023, Jean Ann (Hager) Fry, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother, passed away in El Dorado, KS. She was 71 years of age. Jean was born to Eunice and Richard Hager in Herington, KS. She graduated from Herington High School in 1969 and Kansas State Teachers College (ESU) in 1973 and 1978. She went on to teach and counsel children in public schools in Kansas City, Emporia and finally, El Dorado for 27 years. Jean and her husband Jim were married in 1974 and settled in El Dorado. They’ve been together for over 53 years. Their daughter Jamie was born in 1980. Jean loved her career as a classroom teacher, then counselor. She left lasting lessons and memories for generations of students, most of which were from USD #490. She was held in high regard by staff and parents. Jean is survived by her husband Jim of El Dorado, daughter Jamie Wiley and spouse Stephanie Wiley and granddaughter Wren Wiley of Kansas City, MO, sister Gay Lynn Hager and spouse Joy Switzer of Raymore, MO and Aunt Jean Carroll of Hurst, TX; as well as many beloved cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15 at 3pm at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home in El Dorado. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that those that are able instead make a donation to the Bradford Memorial Library or to the Humane Society.
