Larry’s life began on June 27, 1951 in El Dorado. He is the son of Robert P. and Athol L. (Baltzell) Durnil. Larry was a graduate of Wichita South High School in 1969 and attended Wichita State University. He served his country in the Kansas Air National Guard for six years, as part of the 184th Tactical Training Fighter Group stationed at McConnell Air Force Base. Larry worked as a self-employed installer since 1984, working for many decorators in the Wichita and surrounding area. He was an avid billiard’s player and enjoyed his pool leagues. Larry loved to fish, hunt, play golf and spend time with his family and friends. His loving family includes his daughter Casey (Dale) Darnell of Wichita, Casey’s mother Terry (Jerry) Hall of Wichita, step-son Sean (Kristin) Hudspeth of Wichita, aunts Pat Durnil of El Dorado and Donna Gough of Dunlap, IL and cousin Mark Durnil of New Mexico. Larry passed away on April 17, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Baileylynn Darnell. His family will gather with friends for a friendly game of pool and memories on Friday April 27th from 4-6 p.m. at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home where a time of sharing will begin at 6 p.m. Larry will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made directly to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
