Lawrence "Larry" Milton Maus

Lawrence “Larry” Maus’ life began on June 6, 1933 in El Dorado, KS; the son of John and Pearl (Bailey) Maus. Larry graduated from El Dorado High School and graduated from Butler Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Larry was united in marriage to Lorraine Arnold at Ft. Hood, Texas. Most recently, Larry worked for over 20 years serving as a Funeral Ambassador for Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. He loved serving his community. Larry loved to sing, he was a proud member of several choirs, including a men’s traveling choir and the Congregational Song Leader for Park Avenue Baptist Church where he and Lorraine were charter members. He was a member of the Golden Grizzlies as well as the Christian Men’s Fellowship at Park Avenue Baptist Church. Larry was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was well known for volunteering at the El Dorado elementary schools, woodworking Christmas ornaments that were cherished for generations of students. His loving family includes his wife Lorraine of 66 years; children Steve Maus of El Dorado and Terri (Maus) Chowning of El Dorado; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; siblings Bill Maus and Jamie Hickman. Larry passed away on November 22, 2020 in Wichita. He is preceded in passing by his sister Janetta Gibson and his parents. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Park Avenue Baptist Church of El Dorado.
