Tribute

Margaret (Muggs) Carlisle, 97 of El Dorado, died May 20, 2023 at Lake Point of El Dorado. There will be a public graveside celebration of life June 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Walnut Valley Memorial Park, of El Dorado, after which the family would love for you to join us in a light luncheon that will be held at the home of Nancy and John Grange.

Margaret was born December 20, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa to Ernest (Deacon) and Mildred (Willie) Hull. Her family moved to El Dorado where she attended Washington Grade School and was a 1944 El Dorado High School graduate. She went on a blind date and met the love of her life Ralph Carlisle and was united in marriage six months later on March 20, 1945. They were the best examples of the love and strength for a long-lasting marriage. Muggs worked while Ralph was in the Navy, but when he came home, she was the ultimate stay at home mom, homemaker and wife. She was a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were young, and then was their supporter in all their activities.

Ralph opened Carlisle Heating and Air Conditioning and she was the “lady in charge” and bookkeeper until she and Ralph retired. They enjoyed traveling around the world, loved going on motorcycle trips with friends and her favorite time was sitting on the front porch letting hummingbirds land on her hand, while Ralph sat quietly beside her enjoying a Pepsi. She was a Pink Lady volunteer for Susan B Allen Hospital for many years. Muggs cherished times with family and she will be missed by her family and those who ever met her. Muggs will be remembered as having the sweetest soul, a great cook, a friend forever and a beloved wife, momma and grandma.

Muggs is survived by daughters, Nancy and husband John Grange of El Dorado, Cathy and husband Lyle Shaffer of Latham. Grand children: Matt (Jayme) Charlie Grange, McKenzie (David) Sam Harding Swearngin, Becky (Scott), Landen, Luke and William Stewart, Tim (Keera) Ketterman, Betsy (Blake) Grant, Claire Hartje, Sara (Allen) Emma, Kate Lonas, Jake (Blayne) Karsyn, Sawyer Shaffer. She was the beloved Auntie Muggs to Diane (Bill) Porter, Sue Lynn and Becky (Greg) Dahlstrom, Connie Janzen and Ted (Donna) Janzen and a second Momma Muggs to Julie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph (2012), her daughter Carol Carlisle, her brother, Robert Hull and his wife Ellen. Memorials are with The Lord’s Diner and The Bradford Memorial Library, (she loved to read).
