Martin "Marty" Greene

Martin “Marty” Greene’s life began on February 24, 1950 in Chicago, IL; the son of Edward J. and Genevieve (Green) Greene. He proudly served his country in the United State Air Force for 26 years. Marty was united in marriage to Martha Gengler on June 3, 1972 in Wichita. Marty was an insurance agent for New York Life Insurance as well as the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Marty enjoyed camping in his camper, riding motocycles in his youth and experimenting as a HAM radio operator. Marty was firm in his foundation of faith and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight. Marty’s greatest joy was his family, which includes his wife, Martha of Benton, KS; son Nicholas Greene of El Dorado and daughter, Veronica Greene of Waldren, AR; sister, Peggy Greene of Chicago and brother, Edward Greene of Chicago. Marty passed away on May 3, 2022 in Benton, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Tuesday, May 10 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado. Vigil services will begin at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 11 at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with military honors to follow Mass. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 11:30am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Cawker City, KS. Memorial contributions in Marty’s name may be directed to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for masses and perpetual enrollments.
