Tribute

Rita’s life began on May 8, 1959 in Wagner, OK; the daughter of Barney and Irene (Gamble) Phillips. Rita was married to Rodney Pressnell for over 35 years. She owned and operated the Leon Café for over 15 years. She was a beacon of light and warmth to the community of Leon. She was an amazing cook and fed the souls of many. She mentored many women and offered advice to anyone that asked. She enjoyed fishing and dancing. Rita loved to host events, especially when family and friends could gather with her. Rita was rooted in her faith and had a deep love of the Lord. She attended Greater Works Church and was a dynamic prayer warrior. She was always hospitable and opened her door to all in need. Rita loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the world to her and she loved to spoil them with chocolates and candies. Her greatest joy was her family, which includes her children, Christopher (Clarisa) Wallace of Corpus Christi, TX, Amanda (Christopher) Kelley of Wichita; grandchildren, Brianna (Clint) Thurman, Faith (Caleb) Coleman, Brayden Wallace, Ashlyn Wallace, Chloe Kelley, Abby (Seth) Peffly, Isaiah Kelley, Carson Kelley; great grandchildren James, Elizabeth and Samuel; siblings Terry Phillips, Ed (Tina) Phillips, Gary Phillips, Brenda (Robert) Manley; as well as a host of extended family and friends that will miss Rita dearly. Rita passed away on January 25, 2024 in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney, grandson Trey Wallace, 2 infant great-grandsons Ezekiel and Engel; siblings Harold Phillips and Wayne Phillips.
