Rita Lawanna Smith

Rita Lawanna Smith, 79, of Toronto, Kansas, passed away in her home on March 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Rita was born in Idaho to Orval and Melba (Nance) Hancock on June 2, 1943.
She married the love of her life, Donald Smith, on March 12, 1962, in Eureka, Kansas. They shared a beautiful life and family together. Rita was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved to spend time outdoors and go fishing. Crocheting was another hobby of hers, but most of all she loved going to the casino to gamble.

Rita’s loving heart will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family which includes her children, Kimberly Hull, of Toronto, Kansas, Kristy Tyner, of Toronto, Kansas, Jason (Lorie) Smith, of Toronto, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Donald Smith; her son, Donald L. Smith Jr.; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Her family will gather for a small visitation on Friday, March 10 from 11-12:30 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 1:00 at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado, Kansas.
