Bob’s life began on May 23, 1927, in Oklahoma City. He is the son of August L. and Louise Marie (Meyer) LaForge. Bob was a 1945 graduate of Girard High School and went on to Pittsburg State Teachers College for his teaching degree. He taught school briefly in Dodge City and then moved to El Dorado where he was the business teacher for El Dorado High from 1953 -1959. Bob started LaForges Business Machines and Supplies in El Dorado in 1959; passing it on to his sons at his retirement. He was united in marriage to the former Therese Lero on August 23, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac, KS. Bob served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a life member of the American Legion. He was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the El Dorado Country Club. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and was active in his community. His loving family includes his wife, Therese, of El Dorado, children Andy LaForge of El Dorado, Steve LaForge of Augusta, Jim LaForge of El Dorado, Karyn LaForge of Wichita, Jane LaForge of El Dorado, Susie Floyd of El Dorado, Julie LaForge of El Dorado and Marsha (Greg) Bell of Hutchison; grandchildren Christopher LaForge, Angie Chladek, Geary LaForge, Timothy LaForge, Brian LaForge, Michael LaForge, Matthew LaForge, Aaron Dibbens, Derek Dibbens, Garrett Ketley, Alisse Ketley, Adam Potter, Mallory Potter, Tucker Bell, Ashtyn Bell, Cooper Bell, Jonathan LaForge, Jacob LaForge, Joseph LaForge, Kelsey LaForge and Mason LaForge; 13 great grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Susan) LaForge of Valley Center and Richard (Joann) LaForge of New Orleans and several nieces and nephews. Bob passed away on August 4, 2017, at Lakepoint in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Mindy Denny and Jesse Everly and daughter-in-law Cathy LaForge. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. at Kirby Morris Funeral Home (224 W. Ash). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, El Dorado with Father Steven Gronert.
