Rosa Winifred Elliott

Rosa’s life began on November 24, 1926 in Rosalia. She is the daughter of William L. and Carrie B. (Ades) Gray. She is a 1945 graduate of August High School. Rosa was united in marriage to Dwayne McGoyne on January 7, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1975. Rosa remarried James W. Elliott on September 1, 1979 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Leon, the VFW Auxiliary, the Military Order of the Cooties, and enjoyed activities at the El Dorado and Leon Senior Centers. Rosa is survived by her daughter Arminta (Lee) Sanderson of El Dorado; grandchildren Duane (Sherri) Sanderson and Leann (Paul) Caspersen, both of Arizona; four great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren and her siblings Leroy Gray and Harley (Myrna) Gray, both of Augusta. Rosa passed away on December 18, 2018 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and brothers Edwin and Delbert Gray. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday Dec. 26, 2018 from 9-10 a.m. at the Kirby Morris Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday led by Pastor Micki McCorkle of Trinity United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
