Ruth Rogene Miller

Ruth’s life began on March 28, 1930 in El Dorado, KS; the daughter of Harvey and Bertha (Lutz) Simmons. She was a 1948 graduate of El Dorado High School, where she completed four years of successful vocal music competitions. Ruth was united in marriage to Herman J. “Junior” Miller on October 3, 1948 in El Dorado. Ruth excelled in managing her home and her children’s development. She taught children the joys of loving Jesus during her many years of teaching Sunday School and Summer Bible School, in Cassoday. Ruth was an active member of the Cassoday United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women’s group, known as yumyumW, in our immediate family. She also enjoyed quilting, canning, embroidery and spending time with her grandchildren. Ruth had a valued gift of hospitality to many friends in her Church and community families of Cassoday, Burns and El Dorado. Her family includes her children Pamela Miller of El Dorado, Pat (Greg) Perkins of Augusta, Mike (Julie) Miller of Cassoday; Grandchildren Carrie Mourning-Robertson, El Dorado, Conroy Miller, Hutchinson, Dawn Gadberry, Cassoday, Oliver Perkins, El Dorado and Avery Perkins, Tampa, Fl. Her great-grandchildren Kylea, Jordan, Rogena, Easton and Marley were so very special to her as well. Ruth died on September 24, 2020 at Homestead of Augusta, surrounded by her family. Ruth knew no strangers and grew to love staff and Residents of Homestead, where she and Junior lived for 6 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Junior, brother Kenneth and nephew Lacy, Great-grandsons Barrett Miller and Deangelo Walmsley, infant brother and her parents. Friends may gather with her family from 5-7 on Wednesday, September 30 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home, El Dorado. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 11am at Cassoday Community Church. Ruth will be laid to rest at Cassoday Cemetery.
