Stephen’s life began on January 11, 1950, in Toronto, Kansas. He was the son of Arlene (Bennett) Hopper.
He graduated high school in Washington State and attended culinary school. He married Diane McCurdy on September 14, 1979, in Wilkeson, Washington. Stephen worked for the water department reading meters and was also a chef. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Augusta, Kansas. He loved his family and especially his grandsons. He enjoyed making pizza, chocolate cake, birdhouses and telling cow jokes!
His loving family includes his daughter and her husband, Randi and Tim Depoppe of Leon; grandchildren, Zachary, Skylar and Benjamin Depoppe. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diana and a sister, Jennifer Freed. Stephen passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019, having reached the age of 68 years old.
