Tribute

Ted Wayne Corbin, 72, of El Dorado, KS went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2021. Ted was born on July 11, 1948 in Wichita, KS to Warren and Harriett (Bachelder) Corbin. His family’s strong faith was evident in his dedication to the Lord on April 9, 1950. He made the decision at the age of nine-years-old to accept Christ into his heart and follow his Lord’s example in baptism. Ted grew up and learned his extraordinary work ethic on the family dairy farm north of Augusta. He attended Silverton school in rural Towanda from first through eighth grade. He then went to Circle High School in Towanda until his last semester of his senior year. At that point he transferred to Augusta High School where he could complete the last couple of credits and work part of the day, so he graduated from Augusta in 1966. On June 20, 1969, Ted married the love of his life Karen Mark of Augusta at Central Baptist Church. While on their honeymoon in Colorado, the couple fell in love with the mountains and spent many enjoyable vacations near Fort Collins where they briefly lived. They were married for just four months shy of 52 years and raised six children together. Ted retired from Frontier Refinery in 2013 after 32 years as an operator, joking he worked there to pay the farming bills. The job he enjoyed the most was his custom hay cutting business and cattle.

Ted is survived by his wife Karen Corbin and daughters: Julie and her husband Phillip Headrick of Atlanta, KS; Jenny White of El Dorado, KS; Kristie and her husband Jeremy Carr of El Dorado, KS; Katie and her husband Roy Martin of Augusta, KS and Melanie Moore of Towanda, KS. Brothers and sisters-in-laws: Rex and Candy Corbin of Benton, KS; Carolyn Corbin of El Dorado, KS; Joe and Sharon Corbin of Towanda, KS; Jon and Lisa Corbin of Conroe, TX, Jim and Vickie Eaton of Kansas City, KS and Mother-in-law Geneva Peterson of Chanute, KS.

He was privileged to experience the joy of being Grandpa to 14 grandchildren: Luvyna and Keegan Mantle, Karina and Ethan Hallford, Samuel Headrick, Jessica Headrick, Chris and Liz White, Brooke White, Tessa, Bridget and Chloe Martin, Blake and Trey Moore. Finally reaching the ultimate title of Great Grandpa to Maverick Mantle, Sophia White, James Hallford arriving in April and Baby White arriving in October.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Harriett Corbin; his Son Mark Wayne Corbin; brother Jim Corbin and his father- and mother-in-law James and Bernita Mark.
